Pack your bags! A weekend getaway awaits…

I have always been a situational shopper. Whenever I try on an outfit, I need to picture where I am, who I’m with, what I’m sipping on, etc. Usually these fictional narratives I concoct are simply that, fiction. But occasionally, I am lucky enough to actually plan for a weekend away with my hubby. Finally, I can search for the perfect top to wear with my favorite jeans on the plane, a new body-con dress to wow my sweetie at dinner, and a killer, casual “i just threw this on” look to stroll around the scenes at whatever amazing destination I have chosen to visit.

Sometimes choosing what to pack is just as challenging as choosing where to go. I am here to help you with both. As a self proclaimed” packing expert”, I pride myself on choosing the best options for any location (part of the perks of being a situational shopper). Insider tip: start packing a few days before. That way you can edit down your choices right before you leave and only bring complete outfits on your excursion without overpacking too many options.

I am a planner by nature, but life doesn’t always allow me to plan vaca after vaca. That being said, I love to research new spots and daydream about new adventures. Here are a list of few places I love to frequent, and some I have yet to explore. Obviously, no trip planning would be complete without some fabulous outfit suggestions to keep in mind while packing (all available at Beckett, of course).

Islamorada, Florida

Definitely on the TOP of my bucket list. After watching (more like binging) on Netflix’s Bloodline, this stunning spot in the Florida Keys has been calling my name. Got a sweetie who loves to fish? Islamorada is the “sport fishing capital of the world.” So let your man reel ‘um in while you enjoy some fun in the sun!

What to pack:

Austin, Texas

Calling all music lovers… this Texas treasure is home to over 250 live music venues.  Top spots include “The Broken Spoke” for country lovers and “Antone’s” where Stevie Ray Vaugh cut his proverbial teeth. So pick a weekend, and hop a flight to enjoy vibrant entertainment, unique arts, and inspiring cuisine.

What to pack:

Chatham, Cape Cod

Located on the southeast tip of Cape Cod, this small town has a spectacular coastline, incredible seafood, and charming accommodations. Picture you and some of your favorite peeps sipping Sauvignon Blanc on the beach around an unforgettable beach bonfire…Umm, I’m in!

what to pack:

Yountville, California

I can’t even begin to express how much I am DYING to go here. Known as the “Culinary Capital of Napa Valley”, this picturesque town is full of charm, beauty, and of course, incredible wine. Enjoy a once and a lifetime meal at The French Laundry, and definitely stay at Hotel Yountville…amazing to say the least.

What to pack:

Portland, Maine

Yes. Life is good here. Set on a peninsula extending into the Casco Bay, this waterfront city features great shopping, eating, and breathtaking views. It is a perfect place for the active vacationers (i.e.: those crazy folks who actually like to exercise on vacation). Travelers can enjoy Kayaking at Portsmouth Harbor, and hiking Mt Agamenticus (just saying that makes me tired, haha).

what to pack:

Charleston, South Carolina

Even if you call Charleston home (like some lucky few), a Charleston “stay-cation” is a great option for a weekend getaway. New swanky hotels are popping up all over the peninsula, making this Historic city hip and urban as well as traditional and classic. I have my eye on The Spectator, a new 1920’s Art Deco inspired luxurious hotel located in Charleston’s historic French Quarter.

Your next adventure awaits…
